Demuja, Harry Wolfman, Jad & The, Felipe Gordon and Black Loops on one EP!
Toy Tonics has released the EPs from the hype kids of the new funk house scene in 2018. But a few of their goodies had not been pressed on vinyl yet and so here they come on black gold!
Some of these tracks have been quite buzzing around: supported by people like DJ Seinfeld, Benji B, Bradley Zero. Just to name a few. Seems that the funky futuristic sound of Toy Tonics is finding more and more friends.
This one is for people who like the real disco tools. For dudes who love the style of DJ Harvey, Prins Thomas or Todd Terje. For DJ’s that want the girls to dance.
Toy Tonics lead honcho Black Loops teamed up with italo-spanish DJ Innocent Soul in his Berlin studio. Do we have to introduce Black Loops? Not really: He started his career on Toy Tonics three years ago. Meanwhile did 5 EPs on the label – including his main club hit SEX (that was one of the 50 most sold House tracks on Beatport in 2016).
Innocent Soul is a young Italian living in Barcelona where he is a quite established kid in the nightlife scene. Vittorio Rinaldi his name. He is resident DJ at Space Music Garden project and resident for the Modular project at City Hall.
Like Black Loops he is not really innocent. At least if it comes to music. He is a huge lover and collector of disco, afro, black, raw and house music vinyl. You can hear the influences in this EP for sure. Rollin’. This EP is a bomb.
“Jockey Jams” are the Various Artists EPs on Toy Tonics.
No.2 features Toy Tonics frontline boys Black Loops with a collabo track: The voice comes from Felipe Gordon – upcoming DJ and producer from Bogota/Colombia. Probably the most melodic and swingful Black Loops work ever. Felipe Gordon is also included with an own track here: A wonky, total drunken sounding DIY House orgy. The filtered piano will keep playing in your head for a long time..
Australian Surf dude and funky House kid Jad & The is also included in this EP. He has been one of the first ones to release on Toy Tonics 3 years ago. By now he has also records out on Sonar Kollektiv, Mike Simonetti’s new MK II imprint and is a regular in the Berlin club scene, where he lives now. His Disco Vintage House works are more tools, than songs. With an great soulish vibe and often incredible impact on the dancefloor.
London duo Metropolitan Soul Museum are back on Toy Tonics with a piano tune, too. But their track reminds us more the Detroit way of beats playing. This song has a marvellous piano solo heading though all the jam. Warm, melancholic, still driving ffwrd.
Last but not least on this EP is Berlin based Jacky Mingo. Kid with lot of records and much passion for filters, big chords and straight forward 4/4 beats.
Here comes the new Black Loops EP! And by now you know what to expect: These irresistible rolling groove patterns with that unique warm Black Loops-feeling. That special vibe that made Black Loops one of the leading artists on Toy Tonics. By now it’s exactly four years that they released their debut EP „Right Now“ on the Gomma sublabel. They did four EPs on Toy Tonics since then.
Since the beginning Black Loops have been consistently developing their own style. The fact that Riccardo Paffetti – the Black Loops main man – is a drummer explains why their way to program the beats has this special flow. A flow that you can’t find on many other house productions. Also the way they choose and cut the samples brings in a special soulish, nasty vibe. Just listen to the way they cut the vocal samples on „Le Mirage“! How nasty can u be?
The new EP features 3 unreleased tracks and their last year’s hit song „Sex“- wich was released on a Toy Tonics „Jockey Jams“ VA EP and became one of the best selling tracks on Toy Tonics. It reached no.1 on all relevant DJ Portals, has been played by big DJs from all kind of scenes. The track even made it into the Top 30 of best selling track of Beatport in 2016.
The new EP includes the original track and also a even more dancefloor effective alternative version.
Black Loops’ music is made in the middle of Berlin Kreuzberg. In the smokey ZHUT studio – Where lots of Toy Tonics records get made and mixed. When not hanging in the studio the guys DJ around the globe.
Black Loops are on fire. Let’s keep it burning!
Jockey Jams: The Toy Tonics label started this irregular series of Various Artist EPs.
First issue includes a space electronica jam by Moritz Butschek who is working at Toy Tonics office and is starting to put out own great tracks now.
Then you get a high energetic funk house track by Pixel82 & Justamine vs Jad & The Ladyboy. A heavy hypnotic vocal line from a young kid from Portugal reworked by Australian surfer and Toy Tonics resident Jad & The Ladyboy. The vocals will get your dancefloor hotter then the sun in Australian desert.
Also on the EP you find a old school funk jam by New York kid Doug Gomez. This one recalls the funky tracks by people like Ashley Beedle or even Masters At Work when they were doing their NuYorican Soul stuff back in the mid 90ies. It’s full on New York. It’s dirty. It’s hypnotic as hell. And fits well with Black Loops bonus track that once again is based on a Rhodes Piano riff that creates that certain jazz vibe that Toy Tonics is know for these days.
Here comes a new BLACK LOOPS EP including remixes by munich based COEO and Neovinyl’s CARLO. They go smooth this time. Rhodes pianos, some jazzy chords, a rolling beat.
The two guys know how to make a swinging loop. And they got style. No wonder as one is a funk drummer – Riccardo – who lives in Berlin and the other – Gabriele – makes his money as a photographer living in Milan. Every two months they meet in Riccardo’s studio space in Berlin Kreuzberg and jam for a few nights and days. Doing new tracks, mixtapes, loops. Djing in local bars and clubs.
Dirtybird’s shooting star ARDALAN has been a Toy Tonics supporter since day one. Now he also is featured on the new Black Loops EP with a bomb remix. Fits well as the two Italian guys have started to have a good buzz around in the tech-funk scene around the world since they started to release their music on Toy Tonics. The new single is softer than their usual output – but still create big damage on good dance floors.
Black Loops are having a good buzz right now. Lovelite is their third single for Toy Tonics. The Italian boys are part of the new BIG SCENE of Italian electronic producers living in Berlin. Tale of Us, Esperanza, Stefano Ritteri.. THEY ALL HANG OUT IN BERLIN KREUZBERG studios… doing fresh style of electronic sounds. Black Loops are representing the more funky, techno side of that scene.
If Loco Dice, Art Department, Audiojack, Damian Lazarus, Solomun, Florian Meindl and many other top league DJs freak out about your first release – you can be sure this artist has a good start into the scene.
BLACK LOOPS’ first EP on Toy Tonics had such a feedback. And so the label urged the guys to come up with a second EP asap. Here it is. And it will blow you away. The two Italian born, Berlin living kids don’t joke. Heavy bass driven, extremly funky hard house tracks to get the hands in the air. No wonder the boys are so funky:
One of the guys is a rock drummer and the second a funk skilled DJ (and fashion photographer) who have been djing all over Italy for the last 4 years. Now they come up with this great 2nd single. Including a heavy remix by S.K.A.M.
Let me see you roll – will make them roll. And Black Loops gonna roll a long way. We’re sure about that.
The new Toy Tonics single comes by BLACK LOOPS. Two kids who make hot electronic funk and great super macho house. Imagine the early days Dirtybird sound cooked up with a bit of Berlin Techno and a pinch of Italian “touch”. In fact Black Loops are from Italy: In fact Black Loops are from Italy: Riccardo Paffetti – a drummer and DJ – and Gabriele Micheli – a Milan based sound engineer and video artist. These 4 Tracks rock hard.
